Nicole M. Vaswig joined Robin H. Balsam as a Law Clerk in 2014. She was hired as an attorney in 2015. Ms. Vaswig routinely handles guardianship, vulnerable adult, probate, trust, and estate litigation matters, which often include issues related to complex financial exploitation and breach of fiduciary duties. Her attention to detail and ability to analyze financial documentation allows for expeditious resolution of complex matters.
Prior to her joining Robin H. Balsam, P.S., Ms. Vaswig worked as a Law Clerk for a private law firm in Connecticut. In that capacity, Ms. Vaswig gained experience in employment discrimination, access to education, and disability rights. In particular, she investigated wrongful termination claims based on an individual’s protected status and failure of schools to provide adequate access to education for disabled students. Ms. Vaswig also assisted in complex litigation against school districts for failing to protect students from physical and sexual assault.
While in law school, Ms. Vaswig was a Civil Rights Fellow with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. In that capacity, Ms. Vaswig assisted with investigations and settlement agreements regarding state agencies compliance with federal disability and civil rights regulations. She gained extensive knowledge of the American’s with Disabilities Act and participated in discovery procedures. In particular, Ms. Vaswig interviewed witnesses, attended depositions, reviewed medical and financial records, and visited state entities to determine compliance with federal law. She participated in various investigations regarding access to health care, education, and basic human liberty for all individuals, regardless of race, sex, or disability.
